Staying in humiliating position while job hunting

Anonymous
I feel you, OP. I have been told I will be laid off in January, but they have asked me to stay until then. Everyone at my org knows I'm a dead man walking, and it's really tough, but I want to wait for the right job before I jump.

Just keep telling yourself this is temporary.

I am berated by various stakeholders on a daily basis bc the company is so toxic - but ultimately have little power to fix problems bc my boss has not structured my team so that I can respond to needs. She won’t answer my emails or tell me when she’s in town. Yesterday she let someone else on the team present our joint offering, solo, to the board. I was - floored. I have been job hunting furiously for months - over a year - but it’s hard bc I am quite senior. How can I suck it up? I feel like I am going crazy just watching all this unfold.

Well, if she doesn't entertain an invitation to block some time to talk to you then talk to her boss.

Her boss is the founder of the co - would be tough

I'm sorry, OP. I was in a similar situation and thought it would get better. I got laid off and am still looking for a new position. It is hard being exec level and experienced. I am finding a lot of bias.

I’d probably stay until you got another offer and then quit immediately. It’s easier to find another job while currently employed since some employers look much more favorably upon the currently employed
