Best Play Kitchen?

Our Kidkraft one is great. I agree that second hand is fine/preferable if you’re able to haul it. They’re really heavy! And it was definitely a pain to put together. On par with an Ikea dresser.

With a used one, not only is it cheaper, environmentally friendly, and already assembled, but you’re not exposing your 2 year old to chemicals unnecessarily. If you must buy a new one, the plastic ones from Step2 are less aesthetically pleasing, but they’re made of food grade plastic.

Okay but nearly all wood furniture has formaldehyde. Probably the sofa or dining chair you are sitting in off-gassed it. I think IKEA of all companies probably has limited off gassing following the scandal in the 90’s.

There are now certifications (CARB) for pressed wood that is very low in formaldehyde. The kids furniture company Sprout has this certification, for example. KidKraft stuff does not.

It’s beautiful. But not everyone can afford to buy their own Montessori style playroom though.
