Will I be safe on Spirit Airlines?

You'll be fine. As PPs have said, there are a million upcharges and there are a lot of ignorant people who get outraged at having to pay at the gate to bring their carryon onto the plane. So you have a lot of openly angry people, as well as a bunch more quietly seething because for whatever reason they were stuck flying Spirit. Unpleasant, but it's just a couple hours. Bring headphones and have an audio book or podcast to tune everyone out.

Narrow seats, very little legroom, and very thin seat cushions to the point where my butt was sore and it was only a two hour flight. If I flew them again, to save money, I would bring a foam cushion to sit on.

Which, they will charge you for….

Yeah, hearing the kid cry is upsetting. Poor kid.
How did that woman's clothes all come off?

Important note: Spirit employees are NOT all employed by Spirit but by contracting companies, despite wearing uniforms with logos on them. This includes gate agents and aircraft maintainers. Naturally the contracting companies want to keep costs down so wages are low and thus the employee pool is mucky and very, very transient.

I would not want to fly on an airline where the employees have cheated on passing safety tests during training. Like how to safely close aircraft doors and recognize hazardous material stickers on cargo.

Aren’t they they only airline with no fatal crashes? I think you will absolutely be safe.

I’ve flown them before and will fly them again if the price is right. I’m someone who also enjoys a good stay at the Four Seasons but obviously comfortable getting a little grimy to save a buck on the plane

They have one of the newest, if not the newest fleet. People don’t like their model, so they knock the airline. They don’t rip you off on last minute tickets like other airlines. I wouldn’t fly them coast to coast unless I was in a Big Seat but from DMV to Atlanta, FL etc. no problem. Just make sure you understand what you have paid for and what you haven’t.

Spirit has been among the only on time departures I've had post COVID. I feel like planes are always delayed these days. I was pleasantly surprised that Spirit wasn't.

I just flew them from BWI to Las Vegas. It was fine. I had been prepared about the upcharge from taking a carry-on bag. I'd definitely fly them again if the price was right.
