What is the point of dining outside in a fully-enclosed tent?

This is OP. I’m not talking about small tents that hold only one party. I’m talking about tents where the restaurant has enclosed all of their outside tables (usually a patio) with a tent.

they are just trying to fool you. there are millions of stupid people in this country.

So you can come on DCUM and tell us how you’re still not dining indoors as we approach 2023.

Same here. This is a reasonable way to provide more air flow, but retain a little of the heat from the patio heaters.

This is OP. This is the best explanation I’ve seen so far. I’m baffled why intelligent friends of mine say they will only eat outside but are fine with a tent, I’m baffled why restaurants provide this option (although obviously it must be because people want to sit there). I don’t understand any of it.

I’m in Arlington and the tents I’m thinking of are not 3 sided. They are fully enclosed, like at Fireworks Pizza.

I hate it because I actually do only eat outside, and on sunny and warm-ish days, one could eat outside even in November or December, but not if all of the outside tables have been tented up.

Places still do this?? That's crazy with where we are with Covid. We moved out of the DC area and no one does this where we are now. I haven't seen one since we moved.
