Is it wrong to request a brain autopsy after a loved one dies?

I heard a story on NPR about someone's mother who was always flying into terrible rages, and was estranged from her kids. When she died, they did an autopsy and learned she had brain damage from some kind of physical trauma, which caused the behavior. I think that's worth knowing.
