Queer is an umbrella term that includes anyone LGBTQIA+. Anyone can identify as queer or choose not to identify as it. The point an earlier poster made is that some older people find the term offensive because it was levied at them as an insult in their childhood. Many younger people choose to identify as queer because the slur has been reclaimed. |
+100 But while we can say all this on an anonymous forum, saying it out loud in the real world would get us criticized as somehow unsupportive of the casting they did choose. Unsupportive at best, biased at worst, that's what we'd hear if we voiced this around a lot of people I know. Sadly. It's feeling lately as if cis women (of any sexuality) are looked on as "You've had your day already, you made your gains in society, you're fine now and it's others' turn" in a lot of entertainment and media. |
