South Carolina is UofSC

You need to be NMF, not NMSF for that scholarship right

Unless there's some red flag or an isue, NMSF usually makes NMF

Does National Merit semifinalist help college application to a TOP 10 this fall? My child's school does not have semifinalist quite often.

This is sort of a big thing

Like I said above my kid got 50% tuition scholarship from USC for 4 years guranteed.
Luckily USC was #1 choice for my kid, and USC happens to be a generous one for NM

So it takes some luck, but if things fit together, it could be substantial award.

Not really,for top 10 you SAT needs to be higher then the nmsf cutoff + other hooks

Lots become NM Scholar. They can do it with direct scholarship from nmsc, school scholarship or corporate scholarship.

Mine got a school scholarship, but she turned it down for another school that didn't offer one. The system of awards is complex, and, if you like a school that offers a nm scholarship, those are usually better than the straight awards. You just need to designate the school, but you'll get instructions on that when NMF. There are also good threads on college confidential if you need more info when the time comes in Mar or so.

Do a decent job on the essay (can usually reuse common app) and submit what they need, and you should be good. I think the ones who don't get NMF are pretty much kids who didn't submit the requirements.

Not as much as you'd think, but every little bit helps. Also, when your kid gets NMF after submitting college app, it will give them an opportunity to communicate with AO.
