If your office is hybrid, how often do you actually go in?

The COO basically had a MELT DOWN on camera with 30 people in the zoom because he's an old white boomer that doesn't believe in WFH and furiously called out my DH as a company wide example of what not to do. I DH remained silent. HR and 6 other people that were in the meeting reached out to him that day. My DH redid his resume that night and put in his two weeks the following Friday. He was at the company for 11 years and took a WEALTH of information with him. It turned out great because he got a huge raise, works at an awesome company, and is very happy. We ran into his former coworker over the weekend and he said the whole dept has crumbled and is down 60% man power since DH left. The VP tried to get him to stay saying they'd have to hire two people to fill the work that he produces.

Moral of the story: either let your workers WFH if it has no effect on their productivity OR have a CLEARLY listed hybrid policy so employees understand their expectations.

Or, your husband and his team weren't a good fit with where the COO wanted to go and while there will be short-term pain, the company will rebound and find people who do want to work in person.

People will self-select to the jobs that work for them and I guess we'll see long term what that means for overall productivity and innovation in different job industries and at different employers.

We have staggered schedules - some go in Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and some go in Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, but we are ALL supposed to be in on Wednesday. That said, HR is pretty accommodating if we need to switch remote days as long as there is not a necessity to be in office. Of course, we are welcome to be in office in person whenever we want or need to. I love the hybrid work schedule and I'm definitely in office 3 days per week barring certain circumstances.

Parking is hinderance though - I can work from home generally 100% fine without having to pay the over $20 parking garage fee just to park to work in office...plus the crazy high gas prices to get there - so it costs $$ to go into the office that I would not otherwise have to spend when working remotely. Metro is so expensive now it's not much of a savings to use that instead, given the location of my office and the extra commute time/inconvenience/etc.

My work always has a nice breakfast for all employees on Wednesdays, to entice everyone to definitely come in on that day.

I'm a lobbyist and have only come in sporadically over these past 2+ years. Mainly when I have in person meetings. But we have always been remote to the company HQ so in some ways not much has changed. (Other than conference calls now being on Teams.)

We have to go in 3x a week but our department can and did work from home full time during COVID , so not sure why anyone needs to go in if they can work from home?? Makes no sense to me why some employers want
Staff to come in when they don’t need to

We are supposed to be in 3x a week but I am only doing 2 with my boss’s approval. He is very much a “if your work is getting done and I can rely on you I don’t care where you are working from” kind of boss, thankfully. We each pick our own office days which means most of the time I’m there the office is 75% empty. I purposely WFH in the middle of the week because those are the days the commute is the worst. I would understand if eventually they mandate 1 day a week that everyone is supposed to be there, but so far they haven’t and I’m not going to suggest it!

My organization still won’t allow anyone but essential staff in the office at all. It’s become a farce. Every month or two they say “in another month we will be reopening, and sharing info about new rules and expectations”. And then nothing happens, and people start asking, and repeat.
So yeah, I’m WFH 5 days a week.

3x week. It doesn't bother me to come into the office, but we lost a few good people who wanted to keep working at home 100%

I am supposed to go in twice a week, but do not go in at all. I am over 65+ if someone wants to cut me, I would be bummed, but it would not be the end of the world. DH + I both grew up poor + are now very wealthy, but my "poor person brain" tells me to work as long as possible.

Fed and we're required once a week. We all go in 2x a week. I have on employee going in 3x a week.
