What do I need to consider when purchasing an air purifier?

You know, I always thought that, but my parents got them and I no longer suffer from dust allergies when I go to their house. For 20 years every time we went, without fail I'd have a sore throat and sniffles within 24 hours. I could practically taste the dust, to which I'm quite sensitive, plus they had never changed the carpets in 30+ years of living there. Then they got hepa filters for each room and I am no longer bothered. They haven't changed their (lack of) cleaning routine or their carpets so there is really no other explanation.

Lol, no. You just have nice, compliant cats. Consider yourself lucky.

No, I couldn't disagree more. I've owned so many cats nearly all my life. There is nothing special about any of them. They ALL use the litter box unless they are outdoor cats. The only time one has peed anywhere except the box is if the cat has some kind of infection or other issue, or I don't keep up with the litter box. If your house smells like cat piss, and I've been in many, you are a negligent cat owner and you should not own cats. It's that simple.

Dust is a different story. Pet odors and even a house that stinks because of children, is not going to be fixed by an air filter.
