I live in an older home near Vienna. My issue is the water table. I can literally see water seeping up thru the clay at the bottom of the sump pump below my foundation. It seems weird to invite water into your house to pump it out but that is what keeps my basement dry. There is a lot of tear downs and new construction near me and all of these homes have sumps. Grading and gutters are important too.
