Betty White! (SNL)

Having watched SNL for all 35 years, except for the 80's, which truly sucked, the show has been on an uptick for the past few years. Last week's one with the star of Precious (can't remember her name) was pretty bad though.

SNL sucks. I don't know whose ass Lorne Michaels is up, but his days should be counted on SNL.

Betty White on the other hand, rocks!

Agreed - the days of Adam Sandler, Chris Farly, and crew are long over. They should've stopped the show then and gone out on top...although Tina Fey would not have ever been discovered though...maybe SNL pendulum will swing the other direction soon. I mean, really, can it get any worse?

Oh that's what they said after Steve Martin, Dan Akroyd, Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Jane Curtain and Gilda Radner. If they had listened to such talk back then, you never would have seen Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, and the rest. The show has its ups and downs, but it keeps going for a reason.

I still like SNL and don't agree that the 90s were much better. Yes Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman etc. were good but it was a boy's club. Love that as the 90s ended Tina Fey was head writer, loved Amy Poehler, loved Ana G., Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, etc.

Will Farrell was there in the early 2000s and he is awesome, and I think currently Andy Samberg/digital shorts and Kristin Wieg are great. It's not an awesome show every week but I still think it is funny. It ebbs and flows season to season, I'm still a fan. And yes Betty White was awesome.

Loved her comment about Facebook being a waste of time. Very funny!

I heard that Betty White was awesome. I'm going to watch it on Hulu tonight. I haven't watched SNL on a regular basis for a long time. I did, hoever, watch one of the skits from the SNL that Justin Bieber was on (the one with Tina Fey as the teacher). I laughed so hard that I thought that I would pee my pants!

Exactly. The ups and downs are necessary as a program that has been around for 35 years is forced to invent itself and find a new humor to match its changing audience while still staying true to its original format (improv type, live humor). You can't do that without offending some of the people who used to love you. I'm sure some of the folks who thought "jane you ignorant slut" was funny if a bit racy are not really into "dick in a box" jokes...but others are.

I think it is incredibly hard to do and I think there is a ton of life left in SNL. Love it. OP here btw.
