WW II Museum is awesome, my tweens/teens loved it and they aren’t even into war history. There are always street performers to watch around Jackson Square, also make sure to visit Preservation Hall (line up EARLY), day trip to Whitney Plantation, visit Mardi Gras World.

I would add take a walking tour of the French Quarter, take a cemetery tour, visit the museums on Jackson Square, ride the streetcar up St Charles. Eat your way through this most amazing of cities. Avoid Bourbon Street and you’ll avoid most of the drunk idiots from out of town
