I absolutely love the rest of it, but could do without the shiplap. I’d actually question that choice, because it’s so specific and getting a bit dated already, and will be a big project to change out down the road. A lot of the color choices/fixture choices are specific as well, but much more easily swapped out if someone tires of them or the house is sold. |
We did a renovation last year in the Plain English style and while I'm happy with my kitchen, I am also over the whole concept of designer kitchens. I think we've gone too far with making kitchens luxurious places. |
I think what I don't like is the three different cabinet colors (four?) and the multiple different surface textures: marble, the white hood, the shiplap, and the multiple metals (gold hardware with dark light fixtures, plus the copper pots). It doesn't blend into a coherent look for me. |
Agree. It's just way too much. |
wow way too many cooks in that kitchen. |
+1 it’s just a place to store and cook food. People have too much money. Also, expensive gas stoves are a huge waste of money. They cook no better than an average gas stove and are slightly less responsive than an induction cooktop. Electric ovens provide more even heat than their gas counterparts for baking, though maybe at this price point it’s dual-fuel. |
I think she doesn't cook or she'd want something more functional. I sure would. |
I don't like the backsplash. But the rest of it is nice. I wouldn't turn it down. |
+1, the extravagant stoves with precious knobs are going to have to run their course, but there will be a backlash soon enough. Some do have a combination of gas and induction. But when it’s unlikely anyone can repair them, these are for non-cooks. |
I like each section individually but this just looks like they couldn’t decide on a color scheme, so they chose one of each. I don’t think it ever works to do more than two cabinet colors. |
The tiny picture with the giant white space around it in the frame is giving me the heebie jeebies. |
+1 I weep for what has become of House Beautiful. Plain, dull white (WiTh PoPs Of CoLoR) over and over and over again. That’s a tear out kitchen right there. |
If it happens organically in a really old home I can see it working; things like that tend to harmonize more than one would expect. This ain’t that, though, and you’re right. It’s a disorganized mess. |

All I think about is how disfunctional it is. Imagine having to fill a huge pot of water, then shlugging it all the way across the kitchen to the stove. |
