OMG, it looks very hard. |
I started post preggo with Jillian (well- a few years after I realizes i was huge) - I was 30 lbs more than now but i am very petite so it's like 60 lbs.. anyway, at one point i got serious and started with 30 day shred, it was a good start- but i also did medifast and nutrisystem- not the entire time but it got like 20 lbs off.. the last 10 it was me and once I got stronger I do still use jillian but i love jackie warner- her latest video is 20 minutes but really defined my muscles even more (above my fat)- i mean significant (not a muscle builder- impossible).. If you use a heart rate monitor- you'll see she burns as much or more calories than Jillian's 30ds. I still use my Jillian dvds to get a cardio to mix things up. |
A timely revival of an old thread for me! I just started the 30 day shred yesterday. I'm trying to get back in shape after not working out while I was pregnant or nursing (more than 2 years!!!). I like it. It's quick but challenging. Though I find her pretty annoying. |
I like her No More Trouble Zones DVD better than 30 day shred. It's longer - advertised at 40 minutes but it's really closer to an hour. You can start off using the recommended 3 lb weights, but then if you aren't seeing results, you can increase the weights. I do it with a combo of 3lb, 5lb, and 8lb weights, and I've seen a difference VERY quickly. I only do this twice a week, and trust me, it's enough. I also do heavy cardio 3 days a week, though, and have a dog that requires long walks 2x a day.
NMTZ uses many of the same moves as 30-Day shred, but it doesn't have the interspersed bursts of cardio. It's a circuit training program, and you have no rest between exercises, and I've found that it keeps my heart rate up for the duration of the workout. Sometimes it's pumping harder than others....like when I'm crying because my arms are about to fall off....but for me, it's enough to count as a strength training and low-to-medium cardio workout in one. |
I had knee surgery and have to be careful. I found The Shred hard on my knees. I love Jackie Warner's dvds. I am getting wonderful results. |
What's the name of this Jackie Warner video? It's hard to tell from Amazon which one you're referring to. Thanks!! |
I'm this PP but glad to her someone else who also likes her! I saw results way faster and my point is that if you put on a heart rate monitor- you'll burn the same or more than jillian's without all the jumping ..the pace of this workout is cardio/weights so you get a combo- it;s really good .. you can read the reviews or go to collagevideo to see a clip of this and any workout video. http://www.amazon.com/Personal-Training-Jackie-Xtreme-Timesaver/dp/B003VQO524/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1311206773&sr=1-1 I also got her personal training one on one and that's like weight training- also very good.. I do like jillians 6 weeks abs - available on video on demand- it;s a cardio workout along with abs - it's good.. |
I did it the 30-day shred for a while but got really bored. Ended up going to a CrossFit class. Much better results. |
For the poster who had knee surgery (or others with knee issues): Is there any particular Jackie Warner video you recommend as being especially gentle on the knees? Thanks! |
I have knee issues (not surgery though) her videos are mostly personal training and not jumping- the reason your heart rate goes up is the pace and the combo of muscles targeted at once (but using good form).. are you ok with lunges? that's the most knee intense i;ve seen on her videos.. amazon has previews so check them out.. |
