| Had attacks that started out being far apart (like 6 months or more) but then as time went on it started being a couple times a month and each one lasted longer than the last. Had a hida scan after the ultrasound didn't see any obvious issues. Hida scan confirmed gallbladder issues. Then had it taken out. No problems since and no issues with any food or anything. The treatment for gallbladder issues is having your gallbladder out-that's the only "treatment". A gallbladder does not "heal" or get better. |
Watch the fever. What you are describing is consistent with pain coming from the gallbladder area. That doesn't mean it's caused by stones, or by stones alone. The gallbladder can be infected or inflamed, as can the bile ducts--and the pancreas. Fever is not consistent with gallstones. |
| I swore to my husband that the pain was worse than natural childbirth. It was excruciating!!!! We went to the ER and they diagnosed within minutes. My culprit was fatty cashew chicken! Turns out the cashews soak up all the fat ( which is what makes them softer). Had my gall bladder removed. |
I absolutely find it worse than childbirth. It hurts to breathe. |
| I had it - excruciating roll on the floor pain that lasted about an hour and then went away completely. One time I was on my way to the ER and it completely disappeared so we turned around and went home. It was usually late at night. I eventually got diagnosed and had it taken out. |
I knew I had gallstones for a while from when I had a scan for a kidney stone (lol, stones of all kinds love me apparently...and funny, I collect stones/rocks/crystals). My doctor at the time said they were small and some people can have them and never have any symptoms so no need to do anything about them unless I have symptoms. I never had any pain or symptoms, but last year I started feeling really unwell - extremely tired, fast heart rate (like I couldn't sleep because I could hear my heartbeating so loud), and I couldn't breathe. I was gasping for air and felt like I was suffocating. I thought for sure I had COVID due to the breathing issue, so I went to the ER. Turns out I didn't have COVID, I had Gallstone Pancreatitis, which caused my pancreas to stop producing insulin, and was in severe diabetic keto acidosis (I have never been diabetic before). I almost died. I've recovered now, although for about 6 months I had to take insulin until my pancreas totally recovered and could produce insulin again. Ironically though, I came down with COVID shortly after being discharged, which I think I may have caught at the hospital because that's the only place I had been. Thankfully, it was a mild case. Make sure to see your doctor as soon as you can, and if you notice any of my symptoms mentioned above, go to the ER ASAP! |
How scary! OP really take it seriously, especially if you have a fever. |

So I had a tele Heath visit this week. I-literally- called half a dozen offices and there were no appointments for months. I am going to get diagnostics but that will likely be weeks away. Maybe longer.
What do I do between now and then To manage the pain. I’m very bloated, now constipated, and the main on the right side flares badly after dinner. I’m eating bc I’m hungry but then regretting it later. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I’m so incredibly miserable and in pain. |
| Hot bath helped me. And honestly a less full abdomen - I’d take a gentle laxative. avoid fat entirely. |
This sounds a lot like my husband. He still adheres to a very careful, very low fat diet. No alcohol. |
Your primary care doc can order the ultrasound or HIDA scan. You don’t need a GI to order those. |
Oh…just read more. Glad you’re getting the scans. If the scans show anything, they can send you straight to the surgeon. No need for a GI unless it gets complicated. |
| Can gallbladder stone pain start off mild cramping? I don’t have a fever or nausea I, but I have pain in upper right ab and feel bloated. |
Yes. |
| Thank you. It’s basically just constant, but sometimes picks up intensity. Hard to tell based on time of day or food. I am a coffee drinker but have been avoiding alchol right now. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Thurs. I’m also a white female in my early 40s and have had kids in the past five years if that matters. |
