I love Clara. I don't know why you need a nickname for it, it's short. I think an affectionate NN might develop naturally once you have your baby - like bean, or birdie, or who knows what else, not necessarily related to her name. |
There aren't any. If it's important for the name to have a nickname, you're going to need to choose something else. |
My niece's name is Clara. AFAIK, I don't think her parents have any nicknames for her. They called her "Clarabear" when she was a baby. She's now 10 and I think exclusively goes by Clara. |

I don’t know why this made me totally LOL |
DH's grandmother was a Clara. We named DD Claire.
When DH called his grandma and told her about DD, she exclaimed "Oh! My high school friends used to call me Claire!" Honestly, even Claire is hard to nickname outside of Claire Bear. Her older brother calls her Shortie and it is spreading. Claire has a cousin named Clara. I don't think her parents use any nicknames for her. |
Why do you ask? |
Agree |
I think Clay is cute |
Why are there so many posts about nicknames? Is a nickname mandatory?
If you don't like the actual name - pick a different name! |

My mom is Claire and I think she got called Clairie when she was very little. The same could work for Clara is you really wanted it. |

The only nicknames for Clara/Claire I've ever heard are actually longer diminutives: Clarita, Claire Bear, etc. It's not really a name that lends itself to a nickname, which...is fine? You don't need to have a nickname, and you don't need to pick it in advance. |
