Local Rittenhouse-Style Case?

Maybe the video will show rioting shoppers and this guy decided he was going to display a gun in defense of Food Star? I doubt he gets an acquittal since the Fairfax CA doesn't believe in self-defense and charges everyone.

1) Both Rittenhouse and this guy had verbal altercations and displayed weapons;
2) Both Rittenhouse and this guy felt threatened by the person with whom they had an altercation;
3) Both Rittenhouse and this guy shot in self defense.

At a high enough level of generality, all altercations leading to violence are going to bear some similarity. Before resorting to force, Rittenhouse was quite literally chased down by a violent lunatic who then lunged for his weapon. This guy appears to have pulled a weapon and fired simply to resolve a confrontation in a grocery store. The validity of his self-defense claim needs to be weighed against the facts, which are still largely unknown. I'm not viewing this as a self-defense case just because he uttered the words "self defense" to the responding officers.

Oh brother. This is entirely different from Rittenhouse case. Rittenhouse was threatened by felons brandishing illegal weapons, threatening him verbally and chasing him as well as being bashed over the head with a skateboard. This sounds like someone with a gun and an impulse control problem.

Did he have a license for that gun, I wonder? Or a previous criminal record?

Rittenhouse has ZERO knowledge who his victims were. Yes, they were horrible people but in the moment he had no idea. Just because Kyle got “lucky” that his victims where felons, they could have easily been college students with their whole lives ahead of them.

You forgot to say he was Black, but we heard you loud and clear.

Based on the facts presented, there is no need a trial in either case. However, it would be more correct and less prejudicial to write, both claimed self defense. A court of law determines whether it was self defense or not.

Rittenhouse tried to turn himself into police at the scene. When that wasn't possible, he went to his home to turn himself in.
Let's not let facts get in the way here.

Rittenhouse testified that after he shot Grosskreutz he approached a line of police vehicles with his hands up.

“People were screaming and I’m just trying to get to the police,” he said. “I didn’t do anything wrong. I defended myself.”

He walked up to a squad car and told an officer he had just shot somebody. “The officer said ‘get the (expletive) back or you’re going to be pepper sprayed’ and ‘go home, go home, go home,’” he said.

He turned himself in at the Antioch Police Department about an hour later because the Kenosha station was barricaded, he said. He said officers made him sit on a chair and wait for Kenosha detectives to arrive.

The article actually wrote "held on secured bond" which does mean "out on bail" but most people wouldn't read it that way.

This guy shot someone and was quickly out on a $5,000 bond
