Why are good pillows so expensive?

Anonymous
For me the issue isn’t that I mind paying for an expensive pillow - it’s that an expensive pillow isn’t necessarily good so what is the point? I hope I am wrong though becaus I need new ones and I can only order online

Expensive but the Wamsutta Dream Zone side & stomach sleeper pillows are amazing and I love them so much.

The whole family loves Pacific Coast pillows. They’re not incredibly expensive relative to other options. But they have features like inner compartments, so the feathers don’t shift around and bunch up. (The allergy-prone in my family use them with allergy covers.) A few years ago we stayed at Cornell’s hotel school and we all slept amazingly well. I checked the tags and they were Pacific Coast—no going back for us.

No way in hell.

Agree. I’ve gotten very nice pillows before, but they don’t last that much longer than pillows 1/4 the price. So I’m not doing costco pillows, but I’m also no longer dropping $200 on nice down pillows anymore either.

I got an awesome down pillow that sold for $160 but was on sale for $40 at Macys.

Since childhood I have only slept WELL on down pillows and i am ashamed to say that pushing 40, I still use my childhood down pillows (they are not as full as they once were!). BUT, I found a pretty good CHEAP pillow on Amazon that I've ordered several of to supplement my shabby downs and put on guest/ kids beds. They are "Beckham Hotel Collection Bed Pillows for Sleeping" the description says "cooling, luxury gel pillow for back, stomach or side sleepers" Two queen size pillows for $40. I just looked and they have a 40% off coupon right now, so $25 for two pillows. I've had them less than a year so I can't speak to durability, but they are pretty comfy!

I got fantastic pillows at Marshalls.

I love this thread because I struggle so much with pillows that they’ve become a point of contention in my marriage. In my quest for a personally perfect pillow, I’ve accumulated and dismissed a dozen-plus pillows over the years.

Recently I found a good one: https://www.macys.com/shop/product/soft-luxurious-white-down-100-certified-rds-stomach-sleeper-pillow-king?ID=8278377

I’m mostly a stomach sleeper but sometimes a side, so I like this one because it’s fluffy and soft for stomach sleeping but can be folded or rearranged into a nice side position.

Everyone’s pillow needs are different, of course. I sometimes like my pillow with shredded memory foam, especially when on my back reading.

I got some with Bed Bath and Beyond coupons. They have been awesome! Probably should replace them in the next 6 months, but they aren't too bad yet after a year. I think I paid $20/each or so after coupons.

I love Sheex pillows, I have both the side sleeper and back sleeper pillows. They are perfection.

Just bought new pillows after doing a bit of research and went with Coop Home Goods. One week in and I’m really happy. I previously had a more expensive Leesa, which was also good but had run its course.

What one, please tell. New pillows are on my list.

Me too. Please say what you got!

The original from Coop Home Goods. They're having a sale right now. https://coophomegoods.com/

Warning though - this pillow absolutely stunk when I first unpackaged it! The directions say to run it through the dryer or let it sit for a day. The dryer did nothing, but the next day there wasn't even a trace of an odor. Once you get past that initial, awkward first meeting, this pillow is a keeper!

Are there any good pillows under $50?

That makes sense cuz someone’s gotta corral all those ducks.

It’s not corralling then that makes it expensive, it is paying them for the feathers.
