Just got Moderna booster - Advil now?

Anonymous
No. Wait to see if you need it. You will maybe dampen your immune response.

Booster late Tuesday afternoon. Still feeling crappy this morning. Achy, chills, sweats at night. Wasn't expecting this.

Slept okay until about 5am when I woke up with aches, terrible headache and some queasiness but not full nausea. The queasiness subsided after I ate and took some Advil. Headache dulled some but is still pretty rough.

So far better than dose 2, but not as mild as I was hoping.

You should have tried Tylenol first. Less likely to impair immune response. To answer your original question, do not ake Advil or Tylenol prophylactically. Only take if you need it for symptoms and then start with Tylenol first

Tylenol doesn’t do $hit.

Can you point to where you got the info. about Tylenol and immune response? Acetaminophen depletes glutathione, I too like to avoid all of these around the time of vaccination unless in serious discomfort.

I got the booster the other day and didn’t feel bad until 12 hours later terrible aching pains but no fever. Took some Tylenol and felt better the next day.

Tylenol seriously messes with my liver so I try not to take that if possible. I was able to ride out my mild symptoms last time, hoping the same for the booster.

Definitely do not take anything before. Treat symptoms as you get them.

I gave my shot 24 hours to "take," before medicating symptoms.

Moderna is a half dose, which is 50 mcg. Pfizer is a full dose, which is 30 mcg.

I had a Moderna booster after Pfizer initial series. I just hydrated really really well. I always try to hydrate really well but on the day of the booster and the day after I really focused on it. I don’t know if it helped but I was shocked that all I really noticed was a moderately sore arm. I was heavily fatigued with both Pfizer shots but nothing this time.

Any anti-inflammatory you take before or during your vaccination will dull your immune response. Deal with it. You got the shot to create an inflammatory response.

After dose 2, I spiked a 104 degree fever, had such severe bone pain and then had a migraine the next day that lasted for 5 days. I get migraines but I have never had one like that. I have plenty of PTO at work, but I also have a lot of responsibilities and now through the holiday would be a terrible time to be out with side effects if they are the same or worse. I'm just getting to 6 months out from shot 2 but I'm in a very public facing industry with a lot of travel. To make things more complex, I kind of was thinking about getting moderna, in case that would provide greater immunity as some say.

I have an impossible time.taking off of work, but my job also puts me at an increased risk. I picked a day to take off that would be aittle more doable and got my shot the day before. Planning a sick day or two is better than actually having to take several days with no notice if I actually get Covid.
