That's a great story. Except I was just at Safeway in Arlington too, and I didn't see one person (except a baby) unmasked. People in Arlington are still masking - don't understand why you tried to lie about this. |
There is more than one Safeway in Arlington, PP. I know of at least 4. |
This. Everyone in my building blows it off and of course the bars on U Street and in Shaw and up and down 14th Street are packed with people eating and drinking. (Some require vaccination cards, which is great). It's annoying at the grocery store but not a huge hardship. Sucks for the kids at school but kids have to do a lot of things that adults (especially politicians) routinely blow off. |
Oh please |
Well perhaps we were at different Safeways. Perhaps you missed me- I was the one actually smiling |
Perhaps this is because of the mask mandate in schools. |
Maybe that's your problem - you need a bigger mask that isn't so tight on your face. Because the rest of us can smile just fine while wearing masks. |
Actually you can’t but keep telling yourself that. Your disposition has soured over the last 18 months. Do you even recognize yourself any more? |
Why would this change things significantly when 5-11 year olds aren't largely sick from covid? |
So they went from 50 cases to 50.6 and they’re already freaking out? Thank goodness for Virginia |
This is actually one of the happiest times of my life. My 10-year anniversary of being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer is in 3 days, and I'm alive and healthy, and I got to see my kids grow into adulthood. Every day is a blessing, and I never forget that. I just don't understand why wearing a mask to buy groceries upsets folks like you. It's really no big deal. |
I’m vaccinated with a booster. Once we were cleared to dine indoors and once our leaders dropped the masks and used eating as an excuse, it was obvious that masks are a meaningless gesture for optics only and I don’t do meaningless gestures just for optics. |
The difference between your experience of having survived an existential threat and anti-mask PPs experience of living a life where the party normally don't stop is exactly why they don't understand the value of an ounce of prevention. It is unfortunately human nature that people don't know how to recognize an actual big deal until it bites them, personally, on the ass. Sometimes carefree life is suddenly just over and it's not fair. People who haven't had this experience before are chafing at the modest restrictions. |
