The rooted in Oakton people (who are actually Herndon residents) keep editing their website to change their story and arguments. |
Crossfield moms were at Meren’s community meeting. They said Crossfield kids should go to Franklin. |
This is a really important question. Didn’t anyone ask Reid about this? |
Of course they did. They are cherry picking who their children’s peers are and saying, their peers are Navy and Waples Mill kids, not kids they have been at middle school with. Crossfield AAP parents at Navy may be part of the opposition to KAA but they’re not the ones leading the rooted in Oakton stuff. It’s about sports and wanting to be around a certain demographic while avoiding another. It’s one thing to say you love Oakton and want to be a part of it, it’s another to say that other kids living in your own zip code are not your child’s peers. I think that’s a really gross thing to say, especially to people who live right across the parkway from you in your own neighborhood. |
Most of those being moved are equidistant and adjacent to current Westfield student boundaries. It makes sense. What does not make sense is sending Hampton Chase to Fairfax when it is at Centreville's back door. |
People asked and Reid's response was some version of "I will look into that" or "hmmmm I'm not sure" From what I gather it are the kids that are go to bull run elementary that will be affected. |
Did she really say they would send Centreville kids to the new Western High School? Really? |
OMG the Facebook page is HILARIOUS. I think this is smart - we shouldn't shelter the kids from the great choices available to them. |
| That's how it was phrased. I hope she meant that cville kids would be affected by it (by rezoning to westfield) but she definitely said that cville kids would be going to the western high school last night. And that the zoning map is not one of the 4 |
YES this is the primary reason I want my kids to go to Western. My 8th grader has made good friends at Carson. I want her to be able to go to high school with them. If she chooses to go to Western, and the PTO Presidents have their way, whatever, I'll drive my kid. We'll find a way. I'm so tired of this lady and her stupid power trip and thinking SHE is in charge. Get over yourself mommy. |
Does she have any idea of how disruptive her comments are? Look at a map. There is no world in which it would make sense to send Centreville kids that far. |
| By the way, Crossfield parents should note that the PTO is gatekeeping questions for the meeting with Seema Dixit. How much do you want to bet they will only ask CERTAIN questions? They said there would not be time for Q&A at the end. |
| Meren encouraged SLHS and Oakton parents to continue to advocate that the process is moving too fast at her meeting on Monday. |
| Carson just sent out an email that the planning principal for Western will be talking to the 8th graders at Carson today. This was just added so they are just letting the families know. I am going to be interested to hear what he said to the kids. |
What page?? |
