I've been thinking this! Schiff is very smart, shrewd, and difficult to rattle. The GOP puts up...Nunes?! They don't have ANYONE that can play ball with Schiff?

They had to borrow Jordan because even they know that Nunes is subpar.

They don't need anyone to play ball with Schiff. We all know that the Senate won't act against Trump. Trump supporters might enjoy a brief moment of cognitive dissonance if they hear the testimonies, but in a few weeks Fox News will be another four alarm fire about socialism or invasions and they will fall in line.

Schiff... wow. You can’t argue with why the founding fathers put an anti-corruption mechanism in the constitution. That was very powerful.

They do. They need to look as good as they can as a party.
Republicans are vulnerable all over the country. As is Trump.
It’s unlikely but possible that dems have the House, senate, and White House in a year.

The only somewhat valid defense I heard (but I skip Jordan most of them time though) was the refrain that the President sets foreign policy. Which is largely true, but if he didn’t want Ukraine to get any aid because they hate him, the proper response was to refuse to sign the bill that granted the aid. Not all this other mishegas.

He sets foreign policy, but foreign policy cannot be conducted for personal gain. And he can set foreign policy that the State Department, the NSC and the DOD carry through. Why was Rudy working for "free" and conducting foreign policy on behalf of Trump?

Oh and when the Congress appropriates funds in support of a foreign policy objective, it is his job to carry it out, not to use it as a chit for personal gain.

Handy flow chart

It’s my understanding the OMB was legally bound to let Congress know the fund they appropriated were on hold.
What I do t get is how e GOP are OK with the President taking the power of the purse from Congress. Well, I do get it. Because the current GOP clowns in the House have No interest in governing.

+1
There really is nothing to say and no defense of Trump or the GOP that clearly wants a monarchy (or some weird monarchical oligarchy) and not a president.

Anyone want to guess what Lord Baldemort, E.U. Ambassador, is going to say this morning?

His choices:

1) Continue to lie
2) "revise" his previous remarks (ie flip)
3) plead the Fifth

I am hoping for #2, but just don't know.

Well, after saying there was no quid pro quo and saying the call was perfect, the GOP has discovered that in fact, the call wasn't perfect and there was a quid pro quo, but that is ok, because, "it doesn't matter"

The diplomat at the center of the impeachment inquiry looped in the secretary of state at key moments as American officials pushed for investigations sought by President Trump.

I would think that this news drop today morning indicates something!

I predict he is scared to death after Stone verdict and will spill his guts.
I am sure his lawyer has advised him to choose himself over Trump!

Sondland needs to either plead the 5th or scream like Kavanagh and Graham, telling Schiff to pound sand. The lawyers are over cautious and will want him to take the Fifth.

That’s stupid. Sondland has a great story to tell that the Deep State is trying to take this President down. The supposed “phone call” is the crown jewel.

He should scream that there IS no phone call, and any supposed recording is a Deep Fake. Don’t concede a thing. No surrender. Threaten Democrat inquisitors with imprisonments, and any rogue Federal prosecutors with de-funding.

Sondland does that, and it’s Game Set Match.
