Gross with the visible tats. But I suppose the rolled up shirt sleeves is to show how deep into the hard work of being SecDef he is. A pretty little Fox form.

“DoD actively monitoring. Poised to assist if needed. Prayers for all involved.“

Anyone poised to assist needs to be fired for not doing their job in a literal crisis caused by the military.

Is that quote for real?

I don't even know what it means, though. Assist in what?

You'd think the guy whose only qualification was being a TV news personality would have a better sense of what to say in public.

He read off a teleprompter. Think "Ron Burgundy"

He is such a moron. Immediately throwing in judgement and blame with little data, and showing a complete lack of leadership.

Leading with illegal immigrants after the biggest aviation disaster in the US in 24 years that his agency caused. Unbelievable. And get out of here with that closing god bless. He can’t even fake sadness or concern.

Hegseth, at the direction of Trump, I'm sure, wants to punish Gen Milley and take away one of his stars:

What a spiteful, petty man.

Exactly. He doesn’t show a little bit of empathy. He should have watched the video from AA CEO and learn from him.

He led with the Guantanamo info because that was the scheduled brief and then quickly transitioned to the crash which is still in its early investigation phase. He said it is horrible, a tragedy, and “I can’t imagine” and that they are in our prayers. Sounds empathetic to me.

It literally is not good. That’s not judgment.

It's not Presidential either.

It's truly not Presidential. Which, you know, he should be since he's the PRESIDENT.

Is Hegseth drunk in a gutter? Why was a military helicopter in commercial air space at 9 p.m. and why hasn't this POS. Sec said nothing. tRump response, as usual, is beyond the pale. Just imagine if this had happened on Jan. 19.

Republican "thoughts and prayers" are evil thoughts and prayers to Satan.

You clearly do not watch the news on any channel. This has been asked and answered many times. AND, FYI, Hedgseth has addressed it.

1. It has been common practice.
2. This was a training mission. This does not mean these were inexperienced pilots. They had night vision goggles but it is still uncertain whether they were in use. It was a yearly requirement.

I agree that it is troubling, but it is not uncommon to see these helicopters there. These types of helicopters are used to transport VIPS as well as the military mission.

They are writing this as if the plane hit the helicopter. The video I saw seemed like the helicopter hit the plane.

Those pilots were told multiple times by Air Traffic Control to move. We should have more information from the DOD at that time. Functionally, a DOD aircraft, within a mile of the Secretary of Defense was used as a bomb to kill 65 Americans. Can you maybe intuit why we think he should give a d!mn?
