This is true. I think their key defender was injured in the winter and rumor was they changed formations when they hired the assistant coach from beach.

What does the assistant coach have to do with anything?

Rumor has it she started having them play different formations and changed personnel like she did with Beach.

That’s great for development but usually doesn’t work at the HS ages for those with Natty ambitions

Probably bad timing to be messing around with formations and positions when you are prepping for the playofffs.

Arlington 2011G is like many other Arlington teams before that just developed physically before others. Bethesda just passed circles around them.

yeah saw that Bethesda 2011G and Arlington 2011G scrimmaged and Bethesda won 3-0
did arl bring the whole team?

Bethesda Dad pounding his chest about a scrimmage result.

How did BSC do when game counted?

Playing like sht because ‘it doesn’t count’ isn’t something to be proud of. Especially days before playoffs. Making excuses looks even worse than chasing the ball for over an hour so stawp.

Hah! Not from Bethesda, but North Atlantic is much tougher.

2011s are a bit of an outlier compared to other AGs, but PDA Blue/Matchfit/Penn Fusion/Delco are tougher at the top and there's more depth at the mid-level compared to the Mid-Atlantic.

There are certainly players on McKennie that would start for Pulisic - even if you may be correct that Pulisic is, at this point in development, the stronger team.

It is applicable. Only changing it for one birth year would be too “obvious.” So there is a trickle down effect, for however long that lasts. Bethesda boys are now attempting to market “pods” for the u-littles to mask that one is actually A1, A2, A3, and so on. (“X and Y team are pod 1, B and C team are pod 2,” etc). It is clever, and people are falling for it and don’t realize initially that their kid is actually on the fourth team. And yes, it began with a specific cohort for a very specific reason.

Correct, most of the families on the young boys side knows why the 2016s aren’t tiered Academy 1, 2, 3, blue, etc. JC and BC each have a son in that cohort. It’s a relatively deep group but not deep enough to have two B+ teams that can be competitive. Maybe that’s OK, but they’re not winning tournaments like the Jeff Cup or Super Copa without one team that has all the best players (look up the scores from the U9 Jeff Cup for 2025). The 2017 cohort isn’t as strong and will suffer even more but you can’t only have cohorts in 2016 and not any other years, might raise suspicion. It’s their little fiefdom and they can decide what benefits them personally the most. Anyone who doesn’t like it can leave, and many have. There are lots of coaches at the club whose kids aren’t on the top teams but merit based rules don’t appear to apply to the Directors.

Have someone actually seen the 2016 “top” teams play? They can’t connect 3 passes in a row. They win most of the games because they shoot from outside and they usually play weak teams. At Jefferson Cup they played some real teams for the first time and got crushed. They have very talented players but they are just not progressing

Good luck to ARL and Bethesda 2011 G in the tournament. I, for one, will cheer for your success in the tournament, and for your downfall next season. But until then, good luck and god speed.
