DD made GAK at her preschool and smeared a HUGE glob on her shirt. Well-intentioned nanny washed it, but it hardened to a twisted knot in the dryer. I have softened it again in warm water, but can't figure out how to get the stuff off. Anyone BTDT who has a good solution? Shirt has a lot of sentimental value as it's a special shirt from Grandma, so pitching it is unfortunately not an option. Thanks! |
I would just use a lot of dishsoap and water. |
The best way I have found to get Gak out of clothing is with vinegar and water. I have some in a spray bottle for other household cleaning and decided to give it a try for Gak in daughters shirt. To my delight it dissolved the Gak and I kept rinsing with water and spraying until no more Gak! |
My son made Gak at his camp earlier this summer. It's basically glue, food coloring, water, and liquid laundry detergent. I would keep soaking it in water and try the vinegar approach.
This page has a question about removing dried Gak from carpet and the next question is removing it from clothes. Good luck! http://legosneggos.com/intriguing-search-queries-weekly-er-bimonthly-eh-mid-august-edition-interesting-internet-web-gak-line-drying-hipster-fashion-culture-inspection-stickers-cocooning-antigravity-yoga-centenarians-humor/ |
Use cold water and OxiClean spray stain remover. Get the are cold with water, spray on the OxiClean and wait a few minutes. Scrub the area gently and rinse. May need to repeat a couple times. |
I scrubbed at it gently with a toothbrush. Good luck! |
Soak the spot with GAK on it in rubbing alcohol. It dissolves the GAK. |
What is GAK? I have a 5 and 7 year old and never herd of this... |
