Home Care for Infant

Anonymous
I'm looking for home care possibilities for my baby who will be three months old by the time I have to go back to work and I have no idea how to find them. Are there lists that exist anywhere, or does anyone have a recommendation for home cares that accept infants? My husband and I live in Alexandria but work in DC, so either location would be a possibility. I would appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

Hi, where exactly in Alexandria are you located in? My son's in-home daycare currently has an opening. The daycare is near the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Beulah. My son has been there since he was three months old. The providers are wonderful!

If the daycare isn't located close to your home, you can check out the following website for other licensed in-home daycares or child care centers in Virginia:

You should also check the individual counties/city. I am a provider in Alexandria but I do not have a state license, therefore i wouldnt show up on the DSS site. I have a permit through fairfax county so my name will come up on there through a zipcode search. The only difference between county permit and state license is the number of children allowed

We live off of Duke Street between Old Town and Landmark Mall...I'm not exactly sure how far away Fairfax County Parkway is from us, but we're open to anything right now if the providers are great. What's the name of your day care?

Ask, ask, ask everyone you know. I found mine through a recommendation from a friend and another one through someone I worked with. It's always good to have a personal recommendation.

I think there is a big difference between a state license and county license. The state licenses are much more stringent. They do surprise evaluations and they post their violations online. I hear the county doesn't do much in the way of checking.
