Private & Independent Schools
| We are looking for a non-religious private school for our DS, age 7. He is excelled academically and is too bored at public school. Those two schools (Westminister and New School) seems to be the only ones that are non-religious in our area (Fairfax). Can someone tell me about those two schools? Class size, cultural atmosphere, parents involvement, positive/negative comments....anything would help! Thanks! |
I don't know much about those two schools. But have you looked at Nysmith School for the Gifted? It is nonsectarian. |
| Nysmith is SUPER EXPENSIVE! 7-8K more than the other two schools. Very nice facility and location. |
I went to the new school for high school but would not recomend it for younger grades. I don't even think they take 7 yr olds. If they do I know when I graduated a few years ago the younger kids were mixing with the high school students wayyy to much and learning and doing things they should not have been doing . Great art program though

| The New School accepts kids starting third grade. Also, if you read their web site carefully, you will see that they are actually a christian school, not nonsectarian. That said, I don't believe they put much emphasis on religion. Other schools you might want to check on are Congressional, Browne, and Burgundy. The last two are definitely nonsectarian and very good. Not sure about Congressional. |
