SSFS HOS leaving

Will families have a real opportunity to provide meaningful feedback to the bot on the candidates and have any real dialog on the choices? In the past parents meeting candidates and providing feedback seemed like it was just for show.

Well, the faculty and staff don't get to meet them at all so...

Excuse me? Faculty & Staff aren't being given an opportunity to meet the candidates?

Surely this isn’t true

That division has been the most stable and that is because of DB. Had he left when my child was in the middle school, I am not sure if we would have stayed with all the changes in the community due to Rodney. I have to imagine that at least some of the current SSFS fifth grade families are looking at options for next year after the announcement.

To the poster who said stability doesn’t depend on admin only teachers- exactly this.

If any MS teachers leave at the end of this year for the reason that DB is leaving then they were already planning to leave since DB wasn't going to stay after his youngest graduates.

Of course it isn't true.

Ssfs current problems start with one admin. He’s why we lost a lot of other good admin and teachers alike. So to say it’s all going to be great after a complete overhaul of admin because a few teachers haven’t left yet …. I mean sure it might turn out great. But the new admin may be as bad or worse. And that’s going to affect the effect the teachers. The point is none of knows what next year holds cause we don’t know any of the major decision driving admin.

My post was strictly about continuity. Look up the word if it perplexes you because it's not the same as stability. The continuity at SSFS is because of the teachers.

And to your point that none is knows what next year holds - that is true any year and of life in general. However, because of the CONTINUITY teachers have provided year after year despite Covid, RG, changing division leaders, and whatever new curve balls may come, SSFS will continue to be a wonderful fit for the families that remain and the new ones who join each year. If you don't feel it's a good fit for you then I hope you find a place that does fit.

Not sure if you’re making a distinction? Okay so if they are leaving for DB they already planned to leave and aren’t planning now. Either way they are leaving because of DB.

But even if all suspected DB might leave once his kid graduated it still wasn’t a done deal till he announced.

I will be shocked if any MS teachers leave just because DB is leaving. And at this point - 92 pages into this forum- I am convinced that the urge for hand-wringing within this community probably existed long before the RG debacle and it will continue even after new admins are firmly in place and SSFS continues to be a wonderful place for those who choose it.

They’ve been “offered” the opportunity to meet them before school hours (7:30am) on the days when parents get to meet them, but there are no other designated times for them to meet the candidates.

92 pages of dirty (and fascinating) laundry! Maybe once the new head of school begins their term, we could start a new thread dedicated to envisioning a positive future for the school and keeping admin accountable? This thread is titled “SSFS HOS leaving.” RG’s impact on the school shouldn’t be buried by conversations about his second successor!

I don’t think so. This thread started because of the lent up anger at what was going on under RG but continued because of the lack of transparency of the bot. Everytime something new rocks the school the grumbling starts again. If parents felt they had adequate information and weren’t being played thus forum would never have lived this long. I only come here because it’s the only place I learn something

I don’t know what to say. That’s just criminal

Anyone able to give some points about the first candidate today for those unable to meet them?

I was very impressed and she struck me as incredibly smart, humble, and calm. It was clearly important to her to have buy-in from families and faculty and staff before making changes. She said it's important to "stick with the trouble" and not jump from one decision to another, but to also admit when you've made a mistake.
