WWYD if you found out former nanny lied to you

Just saw your post. My nanny lied to me about where she had taken my kids many times.I would ask her why she hadn’t answered the phone when I would call fro work and she told me she was at the bank. I found it stranthat she was always at the bank.

I quit my job to stay home with my kids and the nanny up the street asked me why I would let my nanny take my kids to her apartment all the time. I said that I had never given permission for that , but I suddenly realized what had been going on. I was not happy about this because I wanted my kids to play with the other kids in the neighborhood rather than be at her apartment. When she lost her job after me and needed a reference, I told the truth. She called me to confront me but never admitted that she had been caught in a lie. She took care of my son which I appreciate. I paid her very well. It just confirmed in my mind to stay home and raise my own kids.

The nanny was trash, as well as this nanny OP is talking about. I was a nanny for 10 years and never did this bs.

Your real problem is not that the nanny lied but that a nanny is raising your kid. Make peace with it.

Agree. She made a bad judgment call, but she lovingly cared for your child three years. Three years without incident. You have no heart if you won’t give her a reference over this. Do you wish your child would later on make a similar mistake at work and the employer have no sympathy for your child? Treat others like you would like to be treated, OP.
