FCV DA thread

Please give it a rest, Spirit 07 Mom. I don’t know why you have such venom for FCV or feel the need to constantly try to get the last word. Let it go.

Often

Me too. Practice and games. Here”s my take. They are very good soccer players. Good skills. Good passion. Good soccer acumen. One girl is truly exceptional and another could be if she’d learn to play with and off of her teammates. Midfield and offense is their strength. Not so much their defense.

Overall however, not athletically superior, nor particularly tough. Lot of rich suburban kids. They have a few tall girls, but they are not super fast. So when they face teams of equal skill and knowledge but greater athleticism, size, and/or strength, they will struggle. This is why they have yet to beat WSMD / Pipeline also.

As far as the parents go, there is some arrogance due to their team and their daughters typically being some of the best, so not used to losing or adversity. Not unheard of in a hyper-competitive sports culture. Go watch some top notch AAU ball or big time HS football, and you’ll see the same type of thing.

Just not a big deal, thiese losses however. These girls are 8th graders. Good learning experiences.

Makes sense.

A lot of 2005s are still in 7th grade, btw. Fall bdays.

This is true and the PDA team has three players with a 2024 graduation date. So they are also either 7th graders or playups as well.

So what is your point?

How did games in Georgia go? Nothing on Facebook so there must have been some losses.

It’s not humbling to see your kids compete against strong competition, it’s a fact of life that will serve them long after they hang up their cleats. Why do you view this as such a personal triumph? Sounds like you have some personal issues to deal with.

Forgive me, I suppose my personal issue is that I take some pleasure when the boastful and arrogant are put in their places.

No, your personal issue is that your kid has not been a part of any opportunity to humble FCV.

Should I get you two a soccer ball and you can battle this out in a 1 v 1 battle? Christ, YOU aren’t playing- your daughters are. Listen to yourselves.

Since this thread seems to focus on the 05 girls, they lost first game to Tophat 3-2. Close loss to a strong team that has not lost this year. Good showing. They play again today.

FCV lost across the board in all 4 age groups to Tophat. Today, they will likley win across the board. Again, decent showing.

No, most clubs don’t celebrate their losses on Facebook. Anyhow, not sure who you support, but FCV DA is the best girls “elite” club in Virginia. McLean ECNL is close, but that’s about it. Maybe BRYC in some age groups, but they seemed to have slipped a notch. Wash Spirit is on the rise, but there’s only so much talent to go around the over dilluted environment in NoVa. Too many DA and ECNL teams in the area means losses to more consolidated clubs from other metro areas.

Just as an aside, FCV's U19s beat Tophat 3-2 yesterday. So they didn't lose in every age group.

Great club. Great people. How about the Richie Burke investigation? It sounds like the #fcvfamily might have some explaining to do.
