It's been 3 days and still no answer as to how settlement expansion is in the interest of American foreign policy. The silence continues to be deafening.
This is the problem when you continually claim "the sky is falling!" |
Establishing Israel was some sort of knee jerk reaction post WWII and the end of the British Mandate of Palestine, that is true. But the US is the one who propped it up since the 50's otherwise it would be back to Palestine about 60 years ago. |
Israel summons US ambassador...oh no we are in trouble now! |
Maybe Israel will refuse to cash our checks, lol! |
It's a line in the sand, is all. I'm supportive of Israel and it's right to exist as a nation, but a two state solution with no more west bank settlement is the only realistic avenue to that. Palestinians have to do their part, too. But all the settlements represent is line. |
What kind of strategic ally is Israel, really? Aside from intel (much of which is suspect anyhow, given how many times Israel has conducted its own false flags and given us bogus info) they aren't and can't be much of a military ally to us. The minute we were to conduct any joint military action with Israel that would help any US mission, the entirety of the Arab world would turn against us completely. The beneficial relationship is largely one-sided. We are a military ally to Israel because we provide them with weapons and money but that's for their own self preservation. We do much for them but they don't do nearly as much in exchange for us in return. Bibi's behavior toward the US has been crossing the line for years. He should be showing us far more deference and gratitude, and if he wants our future cooperation, he should be cooperating with the US far more, as opposed to presuming to dictate terms to us. I hope Trump realizes this, or Bibi will be walking all over him too. |
Settlement expansion is not in our interest. That's one point. Addressing lopsided resolutions is another. |
Take heart, all you haters of Israel: looks like another resolution is coming! Heck has no fury like a Democratic president scorned. |
Even New Zealand thinks it is wrong.

It is a blight on the world. Middle class 50 year old white man with insomnia from PA. I grew up with lots of Jewish friends. no one supports these expansions. |
Israel needs to be eliminated you say? Adolf would be so proud of you. And Hillary thanks you for your vote. |
secular nationalism Has nothing to do with Jewish faith, in fact, unless the messiah has returned I would agree that we should not be in the land of Israel |
OMG, like we do anything in our interest. Iran with nukes certainly is in our interest (eyeroll) |
New Zealand has an absolutely atrocious human rights record when it comes to its Maori population. For some reason, the international community does not condemn them for it. While I agree that Israeli settlements need to stop, New Zealand has zero legs on which to stand in this fight. Also, FYI, calling for the elimination of an entire country doubly reflects your ignorance and, when it comes to Israel, your anti Semitic feelings regardless of growing up with Jewish friends. |
Remind me what number is the U.N. resolution against killing all those people in Aleppo. |
Oh yeah it was vetoed by China and Russia:
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-38216969 Remind me again why anyone cares about a few crazy orthodox jews building houses in the middle of a desert that no one actually gave a rat's ass about before the crazy jews started buidling houses there. |
