Where is the outrage over DC youth gun crime?

Per a Bureau of Prisons study, they found that 80% of felons who committed crimes with guns either got them legally or through loopholes in the law. Yet the idiotic NRA doesn't think we have a problem. The NRA IS a big part of the problem why there is so much gun violence in places like Chicago.

Private sellers and unlicensed dealers. Why would we ever want or need universal background checks, a national gun registry and a requirement to present your weapon for inspection by a local LEO annually?
?

Why not? It works for cars. It would stem the flow of millions of guns that move around without paperwork with so many of them ending up in the hands of criminals. Yes, criminals would still have guns from before registration (and cops are continually taking these guns off the streets) but they won't be as easily able to get guns afterward.

You know hard drugs are illegal, yet folks get them as they please, correct?

It is criminals, not guns, who kill people.

Poor analogy. People aren't growing cars or guns in their backyards or mixing up batches of cars or guns in their kitchens.

And, you mean people are growing heroin in their backyards? Please show us how...

Yes indeed. Drug overdoses now kill more Americans than guns:

What has Obama done to address this problem?

- he released thousands of drug dealers from prison. I wish I was joking about this. But I'm not.
The war on drugs has not stopped addiction or the supply of drugs available on the street. We should spend the money on treatment.

The drug sentences are unreal; life sentences, for some (who were not actually dealing, etc)
On the other hand: sentences for violent crime:months or a few years, way too lenient in many jurisdictions.
It is a total disconnect: it's the violent crime offender they (and we) should be most worried about - no matter what the age.
They will offend again, more violently.

These plea deals are a shame. The slap on the hand is ludicrous, the worst criminal " justice" possible.

1. Make sure all children have: housing, healthy food and high quality education from preschool through high school.

2. Develop real vocational training programs.

3. Provide accessible, quality health care for all.

4. Provide youths in Wards 7 and 8 will FREE sports programs - for example, if you want to play baseball, free gloves, bats, catcher's equipment and specialized coaching. Plus provide transportation to and from practices and games.

5. Give folks in Ward 7 and 8 housing grants to purchase homes.

Oh and, maybe tell the 10% of America who has 90% of the country's wealth - you are actually going to have to pay your fair share.

part of the problem is us, when we serve on juries.

dc is famous for having the most acquittal-biased juries in the nation. there is academic research on this that you can find on google. maybe it's all the liberals, maybe it's a race thing. but it's well-documented.

prosecutors know this so they know that a winnable case in texas is a loser in dc. so they only bring the cases with excellent evidence or the really heinous ones. they try to get pleas for everything else.

Well, even serving in a jury is a major accomplishment in a city where so many locals avoid that very basic civic duty.

Look at the stats -- it's surreal. DC politics is more surreal than Trump's election, I swear.

I agree that too many avoid jury duty, but the duty is also very onerous in DC. Multiple levels of court, jurisdictions, grand juries etc. In Bethesda you get called what every 6 years? In DC yearly, easily.

That's because in DC, once you screen out those under criminal indictment annd ex-felons, the jury pool starts to get smaller -- certainly compared to MoCo.
