I found the thread that seems to be by OP's ex. He actually seems to be pretty cool and cares about showing his daughter around Europe etc. |
At 17 I backpacked around Europe with a girlfriend. It was a blast. Glad your daughter gets this opportunity. |
I backpacked alone around Europe days after I turned 18. It was the most memorable experience of my life and I was totally and completely alone. There were no international cell phones, I had to phone home on a special 800 number that went directly to our home in the US in an emergency ($$$$), and I met so many people and experienced so much. I was also in places significantly more dangerous for young women/anyone than Warsaw today. This is a good thing for her no matter how she's spending her time. She's growing up, OP, and she may well look back on this summer as the first time she felt trusted to look after herself. That's a monumental moment in life - and much better than setting her loose for the first time in college where peer pressure has a worse effect and you are in many more vulnerable positions on a regular basis. |
Where's the link? |

OP's ex sounds awesome. Seriously. I wish my dad planned a summer for me and sought input on places to go.
He must be OP's Ex for a reason. OP sounds like a shrew. |
My husband's US daughter grew up quickly in Denmark at that age. His argument was that Denmark was a safe place in which to learn about consequences and the US was not. |
