I am slightly heavier than my mom was at my age (44), but only because I don’t smoke. My mom suppressed her appetite by smoking and she ate like a bird for as long as I can remember. She eventually quit but then died in her early 50s so I don’t know what she would’ve looked like as she got older. Her sisters are pretty heavy apple-shapes now but neither of them were ever as active as I’ve been my whole life. |
My mom is under 5 feet and 88 lbs dripping wet so never. |
No, my mom used to weigh 87 lbs. Moved to Detroit and became immediately obese. I'm a healthy 0/2p, but not a 00P. |
Nope. My early 70s mom has been overweight for 40 years. I’m mid-40s and slender. |
This was your way of reviving a six year old thread?? |
My mom is in her mid-60s and is about 5’6’’ 132 or so. I’m 5’3’’ 122. |
Don't be an ass. |
This is pretty interesting. |
Be kind. I think the pp you quoted was just using sarcasm to cope with her mom's devastating diagnosis. |
I have the same BMI as my mom. We're both slim but with problematic stomach areas.
I've observed that in my ILs' family, where the moms are fit, the daughters tend to be really out of shape, and vice versa. |
Nope. I'm actually seeing this phenomenon with younger mothers and daughters, though (like moms in their 40s w/ large teen daughters).
I'm really concerned about the long-term health of younger generations, who are being told that extra weight is "beautiful" and "healthy" while we continue to pump out new pharmaceuticals to deal with something called "fatty liver disease" (WTF?) and diabetes, instead of actually suggesting that people make changes to their diets. |
No. My mother was overweight to obese her whole life and I've always been thin. |
Agreed and if you say one word about weight you are shaming them and screamed at that people know they are overweight and there is nothing they can possibly do about it and they've tried all the things and don't you know they've tried all the things and it's not their fault at all and you don't understand and just be quiet and on and on. It's become completely normalized in way that is messed up. |
If any of us were skinnier than my mother, we'd be dead. So there's that. |
Yes, but I'm taller and have an athletic build. |
