Most happy freshman so far

Oh no - don’t overthink it! Vandy is a truly great school, and the kids we know there are down to earth and incredibly happy.

Plus the setting is ideal - beautiful, sheltered campus with easy access to all the benefits of Nashville. We visited last month and were blown away. It’s a really hard admit, but I’d be thrilled if one of our kids went there.

Good luck to your DC!!

DC is having a great time at Harvard. Loves Boston and has a wonderful group of friends.

How were Freshman doing at Brown before yesterday?

My DC is applying to Brown. Why don't kids go to class? That's crazy.

For some reason I find this thread super annoying even by DCUM college forum standards. You people really really need to get a life.

And there is already another thread identical to this one. Posters can't stop writing about where their kid is attending currently

My kid and his friends all do. Many of his classes are incredibly small with active participation. You could not get away with missing them.

Any new ones to add here? Or old ones your first year eaved about over winter break?

On the positive side most of them settled in nicely by Christmas break. However, one of my DC's friends spent his break working on transfer applications- quite unhappy at Rochester, doesn't like the social dynamics and finds the town limiting and depressing.

The fraternity men were all in on college and mostly talked about the fun they were having, the parties they'd attended, and the girls they were getting. The GDI's didn't have much to say about college and seemed to be longing for the good old days of high school. I know it's a small sample size, but I thought it was worth sharing.

It's all fun and games until the paddles and whips come out.

LOL just seeing this
I know that’s an old post, but the frat booster guy is so recognizable it’s comical.

Vandy kids that didn't get a greek bid are really unhappy. Rumor is 700 of the 800 freshman girls rushed and less than half got a bid.

Half got bid because there is room for only half right?

I know a few of these from the DMV. The thing is, if 50% got left out then there are plenty of friends to have outside of Greek life.
