What names are you submitting for the new Western High School?

Do you think any of this is amusing? There are people looking forward to a new school with a new name, and some of you just want to be clowns.

NP. Yes we do. This is a message board. No one actually submitted those names. You’re taking this way too seriously on an anonymous message board.

I did submit "Set the Boundaries First, Then Worry About the Name High School" I don't expect them to consider it but it was another way of trying to get them to get their priorities straight. Not that it was going to work but it did make me feel better. And yes, I have emailed the School Board and everyone else that I can about this process to ask them to set the boundaries.

+1

That first work session about the new high school says it all. Reid may be a very nice, enthusiastic person, but she does not appear to have a lick of common sense.

The first session began with her presentation on naming the school It lasted about an hour.
Then, she went on to all her plans for a school for the 22nd century--when we just want a school that fits the 21st century with traditional boundaries.
Almost no discussion about a traditional school in her first presentation.

BOUNDARIES should come first.

I fully expect them to try and use the opt-in numbers as their justification for the boundaries as long as the schools opting in are the ones on one of the 4 existing scenarios. They will try and shift the boundary decision to the families that choose to attend instead of based on boundaries that make sense.

Parkland (to honor Frying Pan without using the name) or West Ox High School (instant mascot).

Meren will object to that, I bet.

Don't care. Meren has heard from a good number of people that they don't like IB and they want AP. They have ignored that for ages and now there is a chance to move to an AP school. Maybe if they had added AP to SLHS there would be less of a desire to move but that seems to be past history now.

Seriously? NO! Do a google search if you do not know why.

Frying Pan or Fox Mill

No to Fox Mill. The school is not in Fox Mill and Fox Mill may not be in boundary.
Also, "no" to West Ox. Navy is on West Ox and lots of West Ox is not in the area.

Oak Hill
Frying Pan
Sully
Horsepen Run (runs through the property)
Floris

All of these are geographically appropriate. I prefer Oak Hill because it tells where the school is.

Stick with Discovery HS.

Parents will “discover” the boundaries only by opting in. LOL!
