When people refer to top 20 and top 25 schools what are they?

The same students who apply to Emory generally donโ€™t apply to GA Tech- unless theyโ€™re GA residents and applying to all the top options in-state

This Emory booster is becoming almost funny. I don't think most kids would consider Emory in the same league as USC or UCLA. And might not even feel that way about Emory compared to UVA, UNC, NYU.

Parents and students don't think so. Emory and UCLA are more like peers to NYU and USC, and even Tufts

I'd say UCLA is definitively > USC and probably on equal ground with NYU and I suppose Emory, as well.

Most people are not elite themselves to be able to get into any of these schools. It's also dependent on income and class. Private school students will quickly think Emory and UCLA are more prestigious. Here's Based an example...

For US news reputation scores, UCLA and Emory/UVA are seen more favorably than NYU and USC (4.4, 4.2, 4.0, 3.9 respectively). Emory/UVA have more impressive graduates and Lastly, Emory has more elite peers schools than NYU and USC when looking at which schools choose each other as peers.

What is this??

First link has less than 10 people with subjective mixed views.

On the second link, only WashU, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern selected Emory as a peer.
For NYU - WashU, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, CalTech, Notre Dame, Rice, CMU etc.
For USC - WashU, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Rice, CMU, etc.

Looks like WashU, Vanderbilt, Northwestern choose pretty much everyone.

Do you even understand the link? Is this the level of Emory intelligence?

No, seems like you don't. If you toggle to "Who chose this college" instead of "Who this college chose" Of course NYU chose Stanford and Stanford didn't chose them back ๐Ÿ™„.

Just like Emory chose Duke but Duke says F off lol.

What don't you get it??

Reputation score
Emory- 4.2
NYU- 4.0
USC-3.9

0.2 point makes Emory another level on what basis?

Yes. Mind you Dartmouth is a 4.3, Northwestern a 4.4, Duke a 4.5. A 4.2 means 20% of respondants give Emory a perfect 5.

This is delusion. If USC was better it would show. Until you find those make beileve students, we'll stick to the rankings.

Exactly I dont see many on here who think Duke and Dartmouth are peers. If you do then okay I understand, you're more generous.

Duke and Dartmouth are very different but I wouldn't say one is better than the other.

If you are obsessed with every single digit related to college ranking okay I understand.
BTW where do I see the current numbers? Looks like Emory was tied with UNC a couple of years ago from a quick google.

Also WashU, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, CalTech, Notre Dame, Rice didn't chose UCLA while they chose NYU.
Cornell and CMU are the only noticeable ones that chose UCLA.

1. The school my kid is attending
2. The schools accepted my kid
3. The schools my kid likes a lot but didnโ€™t apply to.
4. The schools my kid didnโ€™t apply to, neutral feeling, but otherwise in US News T20
