What's your irrational pet peeve of the moment?

I hate that my kid has a Stanley cup, two of those ugly square swedish backpacks, etc etc. I did not want her to grow up materialistic/ brand obsessed.

You are like my mom only I didn’t have a fairy stepmother. She made me miserable and damaged my self esteem

Maskers in December 2023 are serious nut-jobs.

We will be wearing masks the week prior to Christmas as we don't want to bring covid to my 70 year old parents.
My daughter started wearing a mask today on her own accord bc 2 kids in her class are out sick this week.

DP but it’s people like this who irrationally annoy me
I get it I get it but I feel sad for the kids who are now anxious and just… sad and annoyed

I don’t like it that my kid is so passive. I don’t know how to explain. He says he wants to do something and then he doesn’t follow through or he does it slowly and ineffectively.
I try to stay out of it but it’s hard to watch

"...mostly the fact that my daughter's stepmother buys them"

Pet peeve: Stepmothers are automatically guilty of everything and anything - they ALWAYS get it wrong.

That it took until 2023 for there to be a commercial for pregnancy tests where the woman is thrilled, relieved, ecstatic that she is NOT pregnant.

Right down: my apartment building switched to a new laundry provider that uses an app. About 50% of the time when you select start on the app (AFTER you pay and put in your clothes, soap, etc) the laundry machines… just don’t start. So then I have to use the in-app chat to get my money back and do a tour of the building to find working machines. It’s been 3 months and I’m beyond annoyed every time I have to do laundry. I never thought I’d miss hoarding quarters this much, but all the coin operated machines I’ve ever used have always worked unless they were broken in normal, clearly obvious ways.

She damaged your self esteem by not buying you trendy, brand-name items? Give me break, you’ll be fine.

I remember seeing an ad for Plan B in the early 2000s that showed a college girl with a backpack saying, “The condom broke, but my goals stayed intact” and it touched me so deeply.

Was just at the grocery store… long lines and a new cashier come by to open a new register and say “I can help the next customer.” And the woman behind me rushes over.

The Share Contact iPhone feature goes off every time I carry my personal and work phone together.

Finally disabled today (under air drop)

Larry David should make a whole episode about this exact scenario.

It drives me crazy

That's not irrational! Your management company needs to demand metrics on failures and kick that provider out for cause.

Yes- so rude! Usually cashiers are good about snagging someone who is waiting. I'm quick and can get over there quickly but would never take someone's place ahead of me. I'll get there and wave them over to save their spot.

I could be your spouse! I think people who rely on overhead lighting in the evening anywhere but the kitchen are soulless monsters. If DH is sitting in the living room past 9 pm with a bunch of overhead lights going, I dim them. We don’t need our house lit up like a cheap apartment late at night.

even if you are not using the space? that is so controlling, omg. I swear half of married ppl are low key being abused and dont realize. Id be pissed if someone told me what my ambient surrounding for my own personal use should be.

What does this even mean? You are just a snob and heard this somewhere and decided to make it a thing. Super bright lighting is not good for sleep regulation late in the evenings, but claiming it looks like a cheap apartment? DCUM snobs never quit. Y'all can find something to be snooty about anywhere. It is so weird and sick.
