I was beyond excited for this season but sadly, it fell flat as a pancake.

I’m halfway through. It has its moments but feels disjointed compared to previous seasons. The terrible season opener didn’t help. |
The first episode isn't confusing. Don't try to follow any narrative. Just let the gestalt wash over you |
All caught up. Ready for season 4! |
+1 After watching episode two and feeling like nothing happened in the first two episodes of the season I went back and watched the season two episode where Richie stages. It is one of my favorite episodes of tv ever. Season 3 is missing that spark and growth for me this far (halfway through). |
I just watched S3 Ep1 and loved it. Those of you who had a problem with it…why? It’s everything the show is really about. |
I’m one of the PPs and nothing happened. It felt like it was trying too hard. I still need to see a story not just a montage of scenes throughout Carmy’s life. |
Man I love Daniel! One of the best meals of my life. Was excited to see it make a guest appearance. |
Very blah season. No interesting story arc. Richie was amazing last season and so little to work with this season. Main guy is a pain in the ass douche and I didn’t care about him at all this season. He just annoyed me. They should do a spinoff where everyone follows the girl chef to her new restaurant where she won’t be pushed around by him.
Liked the two bottle episodes. Last episode with all those high-minded chefs SUCKED. |
I agree, even though there are some incredible moments and even whole episodes. The ep where Sugar is giving birth made me actually cry. I don't want to spoil anything here but - yeah, it was powerful. Overall it just feels kind of random so far. I can live with a hangout/random show - but it sort of feels like Atlanta as it went on, where it got sick of itself and its story, and decided to be a Great Big Experimental Project that I personally did not enjoy as much. I also feel like the stuff with Clare feels off. But that said, we're tearing through it! So even Bear not at its best has my attention. |
Huh. This may have been my favorite season so far. The cinematography, the writing, the acting.
It was all, no pun intended, chef’s kiss for me. |
After hearing people’s confusion about the season 3 opener, I found this online. This helped as I watched.

Thanks for this! I guess a personal issue of mine is needing to read an article to understand the episode. It should stand on its own. |
PP again and I’ll watch the whole season too! I do like the beautiful food and level of focus and perfectionism about this show. |
I am the PP and we finished watching last night. It left me feeling dissatisfied. ![]() Yes, chef, I will still eagerly watch the next season. But this one - meh. It felt like it was sort of out of ideas. There were beautiful moments, gorgeous scenes, powerful emotions, still. It's just I have a really high standard for this show. Every second counts. |
