Yes, though Dalton is not the lead in FA. |
Potomac School is trying to do this here. Rich girls getting a lot of private lessons. |
It used to be a lot more than 8! The top schools have diversified an incredible amount. I am sure the Dalton families are upset it wasn't 12. I am not waxing nostalgic for the old days, just saying that I went to a Dalton-like school in New England and, back then, people were so upset that 50% of the class no longer went to Harvard. I think 10% of my graduating class did . I am sure it is a third of that now. |
When "college prep" is no longer college prep, why bother. Just take your chances with public and the way the demographics fall. That's the new coin of the realm, not achievement and preparation. Of course, the truly affluent and connected are still pulling strings. This hurts more the hardworking upper middle class families who value college prep. |
Money wins. |
NYC isn’t the basketball recruiting hotbed that it used to be. PG produces better recruits now |
This. The kid whose father is endowing chairs or leading a building campaign could send their kid to a for profit diploma mill and the colleges wouldn’t care |
All the Dalton guys I went to school with were d—cks. |
I’m afraid you’re not cynical enough yet. At a certain price point, any school can be a diploma mill. Boarding schools need new buildings too. |
syracuse and drexel? cmon very very mid - not impressed |
All of these schools have a smattering a kids going to American, Bucknell, VT, GWU, Drexel etc |
Let’s not pick on specific kids. |
Money power respect it’s the key to life |
+1 |
LOL, so only the hardworking UMC value college prep? |
