Oh good lord I think we know who is the parochial one in this interaction. |
Bucks county is gorgeous. |
You do know that people in places like Manhattan and Malibu think you’re dorky, petit bourgeois, government workers with no class or style, right? Hillbillies might hate you but people with real taste and real money think you’re pathetic and lame. |
This is actually true. |
It is. I keep homes in NYC, Ack and the mountain west and hear all kinds of things about DC denizens. Most are not kind. |
In Manhattan? You mean in like, Harlem? |
Oh NO! |
Oh honey. |
+1. So true. Same for the dopes who talk about the Rust Belt’s cost of living. It’s cheap for a reason. Because it sucks. |
I have no skin in this game but the main line is highly desirable & expensive, it’s not Albany FFS |
I think that the point is that for people who are looking for top quality housing in top school districts with proximity to NYC, DC and the ocean and 20 minutes from major city amenities with a huge restaurant scene it’s strangely overlooked. |
So why are you slumming on DCUM? |
Then don’t say that there is a “housing crisis” or “housing shortage.” |
I think what people are saying is that it provides exactly what everyone here claims to be looking for, but they can’t see it bc it isn’t right under their noses and they are accustomed to their coastal bias. Apparently people would rather pay 1.5M for a glorified brick formerly MC-LMC house to get their kids into a school district ranked lower than those in PA and OH, and be constantly told they are poor for only making $250-300K HHI, than look to an area someone else said sucked, even though it is measurably better on every metric they claim to care about. It’s strange. |
There’s more history, taste and class on the Main Line (or, hell, the upper Main Line) than there is anywhere in the DMV. |
