And you receive fire/police, utilities, laws, educated community, national defense, etc. |
Please state what specific tax reduction you object to. Because I pay more money in federal tax (after all credits and deductions) than many people make in a year. So give me a break. I got zero in any sort of Covid stimulus or relief. I make too much for child tax credits or student loan forgiveness. All our income is W2 so no PPP loans or carried interest or anything like that. We take the standard deduction. So please please tell me which of my deductions you object to when comparing me to someone continuing to have children while unemployed and on full government assistance. |
Indeed, but no one really checks. He uses his parents’ address for his mail and taxes for example - et voila! |
Not np. For which taxes are paid, substantially, so that all may share. I PAY for those services. Try to keep up. |
How can it be the same payment?! A 40k and a 20K car for 60 months loan can’t cost the same I can tell you first hand that when you don’t pay much for housing, food, utilities etc - you can save a lot when you are smart. Add EITC, unemployment, rent forgiveness to the mix and you can buy a car |
PP “takes” services too. We all do. |
It was over a decade ago, but likely Medicaid Medical Transportation. The benefit often far exceeded the actual cost of round trip travel so some of these families (NOT ALL) would basically just pocket the difference on a daily basis. It's not illegal, but staying just 5-10 min. isn't exactly the intended use either and I do consider it to be abuse. |
Can you collect on either of these two programs for more than 5 years in DC, as the pp has stated? |
I hate how these threads lean on stereotypes with little to no regard of the realities that families face.
All families are working families. Food for one week for a family of four is about $225-300 in DC. Basic proteins and two veggies. Junk food costs just as much, if not more. Throw in a child with chronic illness or severe allergies and you're cutting down food options, and adding lotions expensive topicals, Otc medications, drs appointments... Tearing people down is the main reason we have no hope. So quick to tear someone down gives us no will to try to get back up. Missed work= missed money. Try self-enforcing family/medical leave laws in a low wage job and you find more pushback and strife. The poor always pay more for everything than the wealthy. Always. Cars? The "new and used cars" are normally at astronomical interest rates. Predatory loans fund the wealthy's zero interest loans. Same vehicles wind up back on the lots and in rotation to the poor who are kept in debt slavery. Weaponizing eating 🍽 |
Government money is government money! If you get the mortgage deduction on your taxes, or subsidized student loans, or have a 529 or 401k, you are getting government money. Those are government welfare programs for middle and upper classes. But Americans are ok with that because they see it acceptable people getting what they deserve. America is a brutal system. We all claw at opportunity so we don’t end up on the bottom rung because deep down we know that poor people didn’t do anything to deserve their poor existence. They’re there by chance. Luck of the draw. And most Americans know they’re one emergency bill away from that fate. |
So true. Not to mention the brave women that overcome domestic violence or other traumatic circumstances. Have compassion. |
America doesn’t do compassion anymore. Trump’s popularity is evidence enough on that front. |
Or the biggest welfare queens of all, NFL owners. |
Op here, The store manager is the same. He argues with customers for no reason at all. I told the cashier just to be patient with people and not air their business loudly. She didn’t say a word. Reasons why I like shopping online and self checkout |
Right. PP uses services like fire/police, which PP uses. PP also pays for others to have those services, and welfare, for others to use. This doesn’t make PP a hypocrite not sure what point you’re trying to make? I think it’s pretty clear that those of us with six figure tax bills are “giving” a variety of services to others, who do not pay for them. |
