What are the Greater DC "Big 3" Catholic Schools?

As one parent whose DC chose ND over an Ivy told me, "We were not interested in sending her/him to a place where our family values were under constant attack"

This is buttressed by the exposure of the adults to the Ivy grads they meet, who tell you where they went to college in the first five minutes of any conversation.

If it is even true--- they have to let you know they got into an Ivy...meaning they no Ivies are better than hick town ND

It is backward of you to assume all Catholics are Republicans and that all Catholic Republicans are Trumpers. Half are Republican. Very few of that half are Trumpers. Trump stands for nothing that is a Catholic value.

While the Heights may be a coveted school for a segment of Catholics in the DC area, it would not be considered a top 3 school in the area based on test scores and other factors. Not that it isn't a good school...just not as good as others that rank higher.

If we use Niche is a ranking system, the Big 3 for all private schools in DC area are GDS, Sidwell and NCS.

If we use it for Catholic schools, they are as the other poster outlined: St. Anselms, Prep, and Stone Ridge

FWIW, here are Niche's top 10 Catholic schools in DC area. Note The Heights is #8, so not bad, just not top 3.

The problem with using Niche as a source for "best school" rankings is that they take Athletics, Clubs, and Diversity into account which should have nothing to do with academic rankings.

No way SR or Prep are better ranking in sports than SJC.

After top 3 could go any way.

The OP was asking specifically for "Big 3" comparisons which I take to mean prestige and selectivity. I don't think The Heights is a Catholic equivalent, which isn't bigoted. I would say Gonzaga, Visi, Prep, Stoneridge. That's it. That's where rich, well-connected Catholics send their kids in this area. None of those other schools are in the same category, and that's not to say they are not great schools.

I would agree with this. Gonzaga and Visitation are the two most prestigious for the generational DC irish catholic folks. Prep and Stone Ridge have a more independent school feel--wealthier and more international.
