It is pretty funny, isn't it?

Yeah, and WTF is a "green wave" as a mascot. Tulane...some of the people on this board are seriously brain wave impaired.

Or have bottom third of Sidwell kids at Tulane.

Is that a good or bad sign?
I thought the Big 3 only had amazing students. Tulane having multiple kids from Sidwell, which doesn't rank, would seem like a positive...
Heck, once the hooked Ivy and top SLAC kids are off the board and Chicago has taken a bunch ED2, there are not too many left!

If the bottom third is going to a school like Tulane it’s a tremendous sign that they’re doing something right at that school. However I seriously doubt that is the case. You can check the Sidwell website for their matriculation.

Actually you can't, because they don't publish it.

Well isn't that telling!!!

Going back to the original question, it is important to note certain departments and area of study that Tulane has which are far superior most other schools and that are ivy let.

For example their Creative Premedical Scholars Program. No offense but its likely that none of the people in this thread who have children applying to pre med could get their kids into this program. None. Its Ivy League Level if people need an obvious point of reference.

Here are the stats: Creative Premedical Scholars Program https://liberalarts.tulane.edu/academics/undergraduate-studies/accelerated-programs-professional-degrees/creative-premedical-scholars

Tulane = An" Ivy" of the South

The fact that the school has a "pre-med" program indicates that it is an institution of lesser quality. Sorry.

You have to think that a dozens of Sidwells underperformed apply and get in as full pay ED each year.

If not Tulane, then definitely UVA. UVA is the Harvard of the South

Tulane: At least we’re better than a Mississippi’s Ivy.

Which makes WM the Brown of the South?

Anybody who has actually visited Tulane would totally get this analogy.

So YES.

Agreed. Also, Brown is by far the most under appreciated Ivy. It has produced some of the brightest minds in the world. It has also been the go to Ivy for children of Hollywood royalty. (I know everybody says NYU is to go to for celebrities children but that’s not an Ivy)

Tulane is a good example of a school whose "lay prestige" is better than its ranking, especially regionally.

Don't let USNWR skew your view too much either. You might start thinking Princeton is actually better than Stanford or Harvard or that Williams is clearly superior to Swarthmore and Amherst

I tend to view schools based on the types of kids they accept. At our private, I would say Tulane, Northeastern and Miami get the same group of kids, solid middle of the class.

You have a weird view.

Northeastern has acceptance rate below 10% with 1430-1550 SAT
Miami over 30% and 1300-1460 SAT

If you are in search of colleges, you are in a serious trouble.
Go back to a drawing board.

My student isn’t interested in any of these. Not fooled by the data manipulation.

It's not about specific schools.
It's your ability to evaluate, analyze, and assess, then make decisions.

No, more of a party school, and there is no ivy league of the south.
