The ones I know own their own yachts. |
I see what you did there. |
Nah. that's just for the working rich/wealthy. It's not even all that exclusive. And the entry point isn't that high. How to tell if something is exclusive - can you do a weekly rental where the "club" is located...MRF, Lyford, YC, Bakers Bay, El Dorado etc. If not, that's why - its not for the working rich - who travel and go to Four Seasons (how pedestrian) or Rosewoods or some other chain...its for one of a kind highly highly bespoke service. Hard to describe. |
PP here - I don't know! We were in the mix of upper level of wealth because of family in upper echelons of government and in Alfalfa, Cosmos, CCC all of that. |
It isn’t about where they go, it is how they travel and what they do when there. |
This thread is a reminder of why Old Money is rarely big money. After a couple of generations of living like this it is gone. |

Not OBX, but my Dad knew an uber rich family and they spent most of their vacations at their beach house in Delaware. They were made of crazy money. Interestingly, did not live the “elite” lifestyle. Drove unassuming cars- Ford Taurus was car of choice. Not sure if they flew private charter, but probably had enough money to buy private jet, but smart enough not to. They lived in Potomac. Nice house, but by Potomac standards, pretty ordinary. |
Sorry to bump this thread, but wondered if anyone knows if there are any private resort places like Yellowstone Club in Florida? Asking on behalf of in-laws who don’t know that they need this but they do! Florida because that’s where they would like to be but can’t find anything they like the look of |
+1 this makes sense to me. |
