We have two permanent hooks for hanging baskets attached to our fence, much like this:
I’d like to have less plant responsibility this year so I’m thinking of foregoing baskets there this year, but because the hooks look out of place empty, I’d like an alternative. Not bird feeders, not a hummingbird feeder, either, because those require maintenance and cleaning and I’d just have hanging baskets at that point. Any ideas? |
| Consider putting fake flowers in baskets on the hooks. My sister does that for her window boxes because she goes out of town a lot, and they look amazing actually. |
| Hang garden ornaments or pretty solar-powered lamps. |
| Windchimes. |
| Plant clematis climbing an obelisk. There are so many to choose from, Spring bloomers or Summer bloomers. I’d recommend Jackmanii, Pupurea Plena Elegens, or Bees Jubilee. |

Some sort of decorative thing - wreaths, suncatchers, those things that rotate in the wind, paint or decorate a metal watering can and hang that up, etc.
A saucer with water for birds or bugs would be a useful thing, but you do have to change the water out or refill as needed. |
| Hanging strawberry baskets. You'll likely be feeding the birds, but they may leave you a few. |
| Garden sculpture, somethng that will move in a breeze. |
