45 year old women - what do you do to keep fit?

I'm looking to join something OR do something to keep fit. Anyone have any suggestions? There is a club pialtes, Spenga, orange fitness and all the usual gyms near me. Any ideas to really get fit? I want to slim down and get stronger.

I go for a walk before work and after work. Three times a week I do hand weights. I don't drink alcohol, energy drinks or soda, and don't smoke anything.

If you like classes, I like Core Power Yoga a lot. Will help with toning muscles and getting stronger. But your diet is the only thing that will make you lose weight.

You should join my online yoga sculpt class for older women! See below thread. lol

Peloton Strength 3-4 times a week. I usually do 30-45 minute classes. Typically 2 upper body, 1 glutes/legs and 1 full body per week. Sometimes I add in a quick core or yoga class. My weights range from 10lbs to 50lbs.

My favorite instructor is Rebecca Kennedy because she focuses so much on hypertrophy (muscle building) which is so important for us!

52. Strength training 3x a week. A lot of tennis. Adding running back after a knee injury.

Peloton 7 days a week. 5 days a week of strength and some form of cardio 7 days, plus some stretching, yoga, barre.

In person classes work for me. The commitment and the camaraderie help me stay with it longterm.

I’d try out a few classes that are convenient and if you find one you like, pay for an unlimited package and go as often as you like.

For me, that plus my baseline fun cardio (3x a week low intensity biking, hiking, occasional running and summer swimming) helps me feel fit.

Where are you located?

Figure out what makes you happy and then do that. If it's running, find a running club or hit up a Parkrun on Saturdays (there are 3 or 4 in the DMV).

I started Orangetheory at age 45. I love that I'm in and out within 60 minutes and that I don't have to think about the workout at all. I'm in better cardio shape than I've been in my adult life and have added a lot of muscle to my frame.

The downsides are that you need to make sure the class times work for your schedule and that slimming/losing weight is a food not exercise thing.

I do 4-5 days a week crossfit, add in a run and an OTF.

I do the same and love Rebecca Kennedy!

I also walk around 5-6 miles a day.
