| Which do you prefer and why? |
| I have both and like both |
|
Lake house. Had one in the family. Water was drinking quality. Just beautiful.
Sand is messy and salt water stings. And the ocean can be more dangerous to swim in. And in many places, beaches aren't private, so strangers can wander past your property as they see fit. |
| Have both, prefer the lake. |
| Have both. They each have their advantages. Our beach place is a lot bigger though so probably that. And, the water is better for boating. |
| I have both and prefer the beach. Lake water always seems dirty to me. |
|
Beach, hands down.

| How do so many of you have both? |
They’re lying. |
| We have a beach house. I wouldn’t choose a lake house unless we lived too far from the coast to drive to an ocean beach. I love the salt air and the way that the effect that all the water has on the light. |
This. Love the beach so much, but it is more expensive and a riskier investment. |
| Beach house. The ocean is my happy place. |
|
Depends on which lake and where along the ocean.
Some lakes are cleaner than ocean and vice versa. Ocean property faces erosion problems and hurricanes. |
| Beach. I find lakes nasty. |
| Lake, if you enjoy brain eating amoebas. |
