Where in VA but not NOVA?

When our youngest graduates, we’re thinking about a move. We have flexibility but licensing will require us to stay in VA. We’re up for a move! Where in the state would you live if you could live anywhere but NOVA and why?

Pungateague or Chincoteague for a simple quiet shore life, or somewhere near Basye for mountain peace.

If you want something more rural with hills, western Loudoun county feels very different from the rest of NoVA and is amazingly beautiful but you can still access DC (and everything around it) in about 1 to 1.5 hrs if that’s of interest to you.

I really might pick Williamsburg. If I could afford it, maybe in Albemarle County near Farmington.

I would want a solid hospital nearby. I also would prefer a college town/area, because that likely has more cultural offerings.

Having no home to return to is rough for a high school or college grad. Maybe you could keep a condo locally? No idea where in VA to go.
