If your kids ended up being tall

Anonymous
Did they have big feet when they were little? I have a DS6 who has big kids size 2 shoes and a DD9 who has adult women size 8 shoes. DS 6 is in the 99th percentile and DS9 is in the 75th percentile for height. Curiously wondering if they will maintain their growth curves into their full adult size and if shoe size is any indication. Obviously I know this is all anecdotal and the biggest determination is parents size/genetics. Height does run in both of our families although DH is only 5'10" and DW is 5'8".

Track their height on the CDC growth chart for several years and you'll have good idea of where they will end up based on that curve.

OP - my sons curve for the past 6 years has been 99th percentile for height and 95th percentile for weight. It seems unlikely he will remain on that curve forever! That would put him at 6'4" at 20 years old. But I guess stranger things have happened.

DD has big feet and was a tall child but stopped growing early and topped out at 5'6". Same height as mom, but much bigger feet.

DS was about 50th percentile throughout childhood, not particularly large feet. Had a late growth spurt and ended up 6'2". He's taller than father, grandfathers, all uncles and cousins.

I've decided there's no way to know final height until you see how it comes out!

My son just turned 16 and is 6'2". He never had overly large feet and is now a 10.5 or 11. I don't think his feet will grow any more.

DH is 6'1" and his feet are on the smaller size at 9.5 or 10.

So in their cases, they have smaller feet for their height.

What? 6’4” 20 year old men exist, what on Earth is strange about that?

To answer your shoe size question, my tall kid has always had a shoe size that matches his age. Holding strong at 15…

Op - sorry meant it seems strange given parental height.

My DS always had big feet. He's now 22 yo, 6'4" and wears a size 14 shoe.

Maybe, maybe not - continue to track for another 3-4 years and report back. Even if he slips a little, he'll still likely end up much taller than average.

Foot size often is not indicative. I'm 72" tall and mens size 7.5 shoes.

This.

Small feet (for our height) runs in my family. I know many short people with bigger feet.

My tallest brother has the smallest feet and my shortest brother has the biggest feet. They are all over 6 feet tall thought.

I’ll go with my grown nieces nephews cousins. Both tall and short, none have big feet. My siblings all tall don’t have big feet.

Why so obsessed with height? I will never get this.

This was my brother and me! I am 5’5” with size 10 feet. My feet stopped growing by the time I was 12. My brother was always kind of small until about 11th grade.

My DS10 is 99th percentile and wears a men’s 9 shoe right now. Curious to see if he just caps out early or keeps going.
